Developing Bespoke Fire Safety Training for One of the UK’s Leading Disability Charities
Tower Fire partnered with Leonard Cheshire Disability, one of the UK’s largest disability support organisations, to deliver specialist Care-Specific Fire Evacuation Training across services throughout England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Recognising the unique challenges associated with supporting vulnerable residents and people with complex care needs, Leonard Cheshire commissioned Tower Fire to develop and deliver bespoke fire safety programmes tailored specifically to their operational environment. Alongside our specialist evacuation training, we created two advanced management courses designed to strengthen fire safety leadership and improve the planning and management of fire drills across their organisation.
Client Challenge
Providing safe evacuation procedures within disability support services requires a highly specialised approach to fire safety. Many occupants require assistance during an emergency, staff must make informed decisions under pressure, and evacuation strategies often rely on carefully planned Progressive Horizontal Evacuation (PHE) procedures.
Leonard Cheshire required more than standard Fire Safety Training. They needed specialist training that reflected the realities of supporting vulnerable people across a wide range of residential and supported living environments, while also developing the competence of managers responsible for planning and overseeing fire safety arrangements.

A bespoke programme developed for managers responsible for overseeing fire safety within care settings, focusing on legal responsibilities, fire safety leadership and emergency planning.
Fire Drill Management Course
A specialist course designed to improve the planning, delivery and evaluation of fire drills, ensuring organisations could effectively test and refine their evacuation procedures.
